Diet Tips

  1. Reduce fat intake in your diet especially solid fat used in cooking. Instead, use liquid oil e.g.  Corn oil, sunflower oil, or olive oil.
  2. Trim off excess fat in meat and remove the outer skin of chicken because it has high levels of cholesterol. Increase the amount of fruits and vegetables in your diet e.g., spinach, cabbages, managu, terere, cerely, which contain a lot of vitamin b complexes and are high in fiber which lowers the cholesterol levels in the body.
  3. Take more of fresh fruits as they contain a lot of vitamin C which helps in wound healing, boosts the immune system and maintains the integrity of the cells.
  4. Ensure that you have taken 8 glasses of water daily.
  5. Eat at least 3 meals a day and 2 snacks of fruits.
  6. Cut down on alcohol because it has a lot of calories which leads to high weight gain leading to many complication like heart attack and/or  diabetes 
  7. Increase on physical activities to burn the excess fat in the body
  8. Eat complex carbohydrates from whole grain cereals like graded maize, brown bread/bun, oats, and unprocessed rice since they are high in fiber and take a longer period of time in digestion and slower in absorption in the body than the refined cereals. This helps in controlling the glucose level in the body. They also lower the cholesterol levels in the body
  9. Avoid grilled and roasted meat as it has fat which is burnt excessively and would lead to diseases like gout, arthritis, and cancer.
  10. Take fresh juice made from fresh fruits e.g. water melon, paw paw, passion instead of processed drinks in which preservatives have been added as they are harmful to our health. 
  11. Avoid eating junk food such as; chips, popcorns, crisps, cakes e.t.c since they luck Vitamins leading to indigestion, nausea and obesity.
